Puffy VS Puffy Lux Video Review

When it comes to the top selling mattresses on the market we really know our stuff, and two current customer favorites are the Puffy Mattress and the Nectar Mattress. While the Nectar is favored for its durable memory foam and cooling technology; the puffy is favored for its durable memory foam and cooling technology – so this is going to be a tough competition.
First impressions are that the Nectar beast Puffy slightly in affordability but by comparison, the Puffy won awards for being one of the best sleep products of 2018. They also donate all of their unwanted mattresses to children’s charities, which touches the heartstrings as well as endearing them to us.
Let’s take a closer look at these two mattresses, compare them by category and see who comes out on top.
Branding
The Nectar Mattress is already well known, has a fair amount of followers and has over 5K reviews on its site. Their website is accessible, easy to use and looks like a professional put it together. It doesn’t have annoying pop up ads and it isn’t pushy with the prices. Overall they brand very well, being a company known for reputation and success rather than special deals and freebies.
While Nectar focus on the mattress and their two types of frame, Puffy spread themselves a little thinner by advertising a whole range of sleeping products through their own site. While this is a better deal for them marketing wise, it isn’t necessarily the best thing for us. The branding is good but the site is more complex; they also offer you a popup to join a mailing list and ask your browser if they can send you notifications, and we are not fans of the pushy.
This is an odd one because Puffy should win this category with their awards and certifications; but to us they seem to fall slightly short with too many ads. We give round 1 to Nectar, for being so very well rounded.
Both of these mattresses are exceptionally comfortable. The both use the same comfort layer on top and have great pressure relief. They both work well in all sleeping positions.
I found that the 12″ was just a tiny bit firmer since it adds a support layer the 10″ mattress does not have. Both are a good medium feel most people should enjoy. Watch the video for more on this.
Since both of these mattresses are made from durable memory foam, both offer rather superb motion reduction. If you had a spring mattress before you will find you will have a much better experience on foam. You’ll want to read our Puffy Mattress Topper review if you are buying one of their mattresses. Also, our mattress buying guide is helpful. You can also compare mattress sizes to get the correct fit.
Off-gassing to us is a deceptive term because we feel that any new product will smell of the factory until it has been in your home or used for a while. This is normal and happens with both of these mattresses. It is similar to a new shoe smell and will dissipate within 24-36 hours of the mattress being placed in your home.
Once you have placed a mattress protector (which we would always recommend) and your sheets onto the bed any lingering scent should be barely noticeable at all. Strangely, organic or natural mattresses will give off the most smell. This is due to their materials but you should not be affected by this with either of these mattresses.
Since off-gassing in both of these products is very much the same we have to award our second draw and move on to the next round.
I found that the 12″ model had better edge support in the sitting position. However in the laying down position they both perform as they should will little roll of the bed feeling. But with more support layers and being thicker I found the 12″ was a little better in this area.
These mattresses both use the same foams except the 12″ has one extra layer the 10″ does not. But the overall quality of the mattresses are great. Which is why they back it with a great warranty.
The Nectar and Purple will work great on any solid surface. The floor, platform slats, mattress boxspring/foundation and they now offer an adjustable bed base as well. Use our mattress comparrison tool to determine differences in mattress types.
Now both of these mattresses have taken cooling technology into account and both have done well because of it.
Each offers the same top layer and it does not trap heat badly at all. You also have some hug but not a ton where its overwhelming so you tend to stay cooler than a mattress that you sink very far into. Realistically, I think the will both perform about the same for temperature. During cooler months when using blankets more, check out our weighted blanket reviews.
Both will work great on a base being an all foam mattress.

Overall Summary
It will come down to needs and price on this one.
Heavier sleepers should choose the Lux or people seeking a bit more support and better edge support.
The 10″ is still a ncie mattress but not quite as good of support but will work for more people.
Both have EXCEPTIONAL pressure relief.
