The Posture Plush uses quite a lot of high density memory foam in its construction. Although this sounds like it might result in a hard mattress; they actually keep most of the tough stuff to the bottom layers. The top layers are cushioned, gel infused foam that mold to your form and support the shape of your body. The more you compress this mattress the harder it works, which actually makes it a good mattress for those that struggle with weight. The mattress comes delivered to you in a box. To optimize space and provide easy transport, the mattress will be rolled in the box. We suggest ensuring that you have your box spring or foundation support set up and ready before opening the mattress and setting it up. The mattress will be easier to place if it is opened up while on the box spring as opposed to lifting it onto the box spring and the mattress cannot be used without a proper foundation, anyway. The mattress will take a few hours to puff up and become less wrinkly as it has been sitting in a box, compressed for a week. This is supposed to happen, though, and will not affect the quality of the mattress whatsoever. Any mattress with memory foam properties will have this same issue coming out of the box.
There will be plastic around the mattress as well, so you will need to use a sharp cutting material to slice open the packaging. Off-Gassing
Plushbeds is very clear when they state that the Cool Bliss Luxury Memory Foam Mattress has “no chemical odors or off-gassing.” This goes back to when we explained how the mattress is GreenGuard Gold certified. It helps you sleep peacefully and breathe easily. It claims to have no putrid smells of chemicals or irritants that could affect your quality of sleep. They also claim that unlike other mattresses, you don’t need to “air it out” before you sleep in it. Enjoy a peaceful sleep on the very first night.
However, we are unsure of how true to word this is as there are no reviews on Plushbeds website that hint towards using the mattress on the first night and it being irritant and smell free. There are reviews, however, stating that the plastic it was wrapped in was smell free.
As a precaution, we suggest placing a mattress cover on the mattress under your sheets and letting it air out for at least a few hours, just to be on the safe side. As with any new product, there is likely to be some kind of smell, however, we predict that this odor would be kept minimal. After all, they are a company that prides itself on being natural and eco-friendly, so we don’t see why this mattress would have any harmful odor emitted from it.
We give the Cool Bliss Luxury Memory Foam Mattress a 10 out of 10 for not having a harmful odor.
As we mentioned, Plush Beds put a lot of effort into the research and development of their mattresses. The Posture Plus is not an exception to this. That top layer is four way stretch, soft to the touch, quilted for airflow, and antimicrobial. It will keep fresh for longer, and you can even whip it off and wash it. What’s not to love?
Underneath this layer 2 is made of patented Plush foam in firm, which weighs 4lb and spans 3”. It isn’t soft enough that it smothers you, but it is soft enough to make you feel like you are floating. This is the layer for the sinkage we experienced in the edge support tests and comfort and feel category.
Layer three is 2 inches of natural Aprico latex. This is totally natural, sourced from trees, is chemical free, has had no dyes, pesticides or fillers near it… it is he cleanest bedding latex we have come across so far. It adds buoyancy and is also mold and mildew proof.
Beneath this, layer 4 sports the 2” high density Air Flow layer. This is a latex, memory foam mix that is shaped to form channels which lead heat away from the body. Added into the several layers and the quilted cover, this makes for a pretty cool foam bed.
The fifth layer of this bed contains a five inch thick, high density supportive core structure that provides the strength of the mattress. This layer works to support extra weight and distribute it, keep your mattress lasting longer, and provide tough durability.
Instead of the box spring in a traditional mattress, they then add a final layer of highly dense orthopedic foundation foam. This has almost the same texture as wood but it is more pliable. It is also completely chemical free and it helps the mattress keep its structure. This whole layer will support up to 600lbs of weight, so if you need a tough mattress this could be it.
All memory foams have one thing in common – they are better at motion reduction than any other type of mattress. The Posture Plus covers this and then some! When you lie down on it, there is that three inch sinkage again. After that you hit a layer that has a little resistance and bounce to it. This is the third layer down, which has a latex mixture to add a little bounce into the mix.
Overall it is a good combination of bounce when you need it and smooth calm when you don’t. A partner can be up and down all night and you won’t feel it. The weight soak and dispersal of the memory foam they use is very good quality indeed. It also has multiple layers to sink down through, so any movement won’t be felt on the other side. It is also a quiet mattress, and movements do tend to be hushed.
Unfortunately, full memory foam beds have terrible edge support as a general rule. This is because memory foam has been made to stretch and cradle your body. This isn’t great when you sit down because you sink into it. Traditionally, full foam mattresses perform poorly in this category and this is what we expected from the Posture Plus.
All that being said; the Posture Plus mattress performed better than we thought it would. That top two or three inches gives way when you perch on the edge – but then you stop firm. The density and firmness of those interior layers mean that you won’t be sliding off the edge of the bed at night. The edge support on this mattress is very good, for a full foam bed. You may find if you are elderly or infirm that you will struggle to rise. In this instance, we would suggest you move away from full foam beds and try something automated, instead.
For a start, the Posture Plus has a lovely quilted pattern on that four way stretch cover. This allows for better air movement around and under you while you sleep. Added to this, the cover is naturally antimicrobial, providing a fresh feeling every time you lie down. The key to their temperature regulation success actually lies in the transitional layers. In the middle of the mattress is a 2” layer of high density air flow memory foam. This contains built in ventilation to channel heat away from the body. It makes the most of air flow and keeps you at a cool temperature.
Finally, there are 6 layers to this mattress. With all those areas of separation beneath you, you can be sure of a cool night’s sleep.
