In addition, Big Fig offers a extra heavy duty foundation and frame if you need those too. The box is Amish Made and the frame is made of recycled railroad ties!

Amish Crafted With Spruce Wood And 18 Slats For Strength
The number and size of the slats in other mattress foundations are inadequate for bigger figures. Big Fig makes their foundation with 18, 2.5 inch wide slats to provide ample support to you and your mattress.
We had a good experience on the Big Fig Mattress. One of the biggest perks is as a mattress store owner is knowing this mattress will hold up.
The Big Fig Mattress impressed me for the following reasons.
A.) The ability to get a mattress of this quality online is impressive.
B.) The mattress sleeps exceptionally cool. The foams and the cover are cool. Plus there’s not a ton of sinkage so more of your body is exposed to the air.
C.) It worked well in all sleeping positions. And it had very little motion transfer.
D.) The overall build quality and quality of materials is tough to beat here. You cannot go wrong if you want durability and longevity.
If you don’t like a firmer mattress you might need to look elsewhere, but as I said heavier people will find it softer than me at 200lbs since you’ll sink more being heavier.
Big Fig was as Ross said, a TANK! We soon regretted reviewing in a king since it was temporary and we had to move it after a couple weeks! The white glove delivery is great when being shipped though.
You can honestly really tell the difference on the Big Fig. It really is built extremely well and you can tell the foams are much higher quality than many of the online or store choices. For me at 125lbs it was firm. But heavier people will find it softer and if you just plain old like a firm, you’ll like it! Overall I would recommend the Big Fig to anyone looking for durability, or a firmer mattress.
The Big Fig slept exceptionally cool. It uses ThermoGel in the cover. In addition the firmer foams provide less sinkage so more of your body is exposed to the air. Also I find that hybrids or mattresses that use pocketed coils tend be sleep cooler than foam core mattresses because they allow better airflow. If you’re a hot sleeper this could be one of the best options out there. The top layer uses gel infused latex. Latex sleeps cool to begin with but gel infused even more so.
We tested on a king and don’t have the adjustable for a king. However, the Big Fig will work on a base if you just want subtle elevation. I would recommend it if you plan on sitting straight up or elevating a ton, it will bend some however.

A Letter From the Co-Founder, Alison
90+ Years ago, my great great grandfather started a mattress manufacturing business. For 5 generations, my family has proudly made mattresses in the USA and created thousands of jobs at our factory. In the last few years, we’ve observed the many new mattresses being sold on the internet, along with an increasing number of mattress retail stores. However, I began to notice a gap in the industry. There were many new mattresses and brands, but none were being designed for people with a bigger figure.
Much to my surprise, the trend in quality to support larger weight limits actually began to decline. “All-foam” mattresses and “slabs of foam in a box” began to populate the online mattress industry. The quality of national brand mattresses in stores continued to decline as the brands chased higher profit margins by using cheaper materials. I read hundreds of online reviews from plus size sleepers who publicly denounced these all-foam and cheaper quality mattresses as bad for their body type.
By this point in my career, I knew that our factory possessed the unique knowledge, experience and ability to create a better product. I knew it would be more difficult and take more time to produce such a high caliber of mattress, and require more costly materials, but the right design would yield an unparalleled mattress option for the plus size consumer.
I decided to partner with my father (co-founder), put our heads together, combine our knowledge, experience and unique perspectives, and create a new mattress brand! We assembled a team to design and build a mattress from the ground up, specifically for the underserved community of plus size and big & tall sleepers. We decided to sell the mattress online-only and to pair it with a wealth of information about the specifics of our mattress construction materials. With more education and transparent information, less consumers might be lured by the “all-foam” slabs and cheaper construction from the other mattress brands. Additionally, we wanted to make sure we could build a mattress that outperforms all mattress types, including other innerspring mattresses.
