They provide certified natural organic bedding for their range of memory foam mattresses and seem to spend a large amount on research and development. This is reflected in the several innovative mattresses they offer… of which the Ocean Mist is just one.
The website is clean and well presented. They have an autumn leaves feel going on that really adds to the homely quality they seem to project. They want to sell to a client base looking for affordable luxury, and they do seem to have a product range that matches this. They have put enough effort into the presentation of their product that they offer a suitable sleep trial and free delivery, and their mattresses to come with a whole range of certification.
Plush Beds sell mattresses, mattress toppers, adjustable bed frames, accessories and other bedding that complements each other. We like their logo, their presentation of the products and their overall branding. We feel that they could provide a little more information on the site itself; but other than that, we don’t have a single negative thing to say.
The Ocean Mist is a gel memory foam mattress, so the actual foam itself feels a little clingy against the skin. Fortunately, Plush Beds have covered it up in a lovely feeling Luxurious 4-way stretch cover. The cover has been designed to move with the shape of the bed, which should mold and contour to your shape every time you lie down.
The Ocean Mist is a full memory foam bed, so if you prefer a little spring and bounce you may wish to choose a hybrid model, instead. If good motion reduction and high sound transfer resistance, memory foam mattresses will sink in when you press down on them, and then disperse that weight throughout the bed beneath you. This allows for better support of the pressure points in the body as well as a good, soft, mattress in which to dream.
The Ocean Mist is a medium-soft on the firmness scale. This means that there is quite a lot of sinkage when you press down. Mattresses like this tend to be pliant and supple, and they are made to envelope you as you lie down. They are not great for edge support, but the Ocean Mist may have some technological surprises for us that addresses this issue. We will get to edge support in a while.

When you get it into your house, we suggest that you take it to the room that you wish to keep it in. Once you have opened the mattress then it will be difficult to maneuver so it is easier to move it now. Once you have it in place, take a sharp tool and open the cardboard. Once you have removed it the bed will unroll at this point. Next, cut away the plastic and your mattress will start to expand!
Your mattress will be fully expanded within 24 hours, but you will be able to sleep on it before then. Make sure to add a mattress protector and fresh sheets for the best experience. You should also try a new mattress out for more than a week or two if you want to get the true sense of how it will perform over time.
The first layer of this bed is that four way stretchable cover. This cover can be unzipped for easy machine washing – a big plus for any mattress. This cover is also quilted into a pleasant design that has the secret job of providing more airflow under you as you sleep.
The second layer of this bed are those three full inches of Cool Bliss GEL memory foam that gives all the support and provides the cooling temperature regulation. This layer is highly breathable and responds better the more tension is placed on it. This layer helps stop the bottom sagging out of the mattress, has no chemical off-gassing and is fully hypoallergenic.
Beneath this comfort layer is a 6” high density memory foam transitional layer. This layer evenly distributes your weight, has a little more spring than the other layers to promote good posture, and is tougher than the industry standard.
Finally, the base support layer of this bed is made of that toughened and sturdy orthopedic memory foam. It is similar in feel to that of wood, but obviously it has a little more give in it for your comfort. This layer is heat treated, chemical free, and can stand up to 600lbs of weight!
The Ocean Mist mattress is a full foam bed, so we already knew that it would score highly in this category. That being said, this mattress actually has another trick up its sleeve when it comes to motion reduction – and it comes in the form of the cooling layer of gel foam!
That Bliss GEL is super supportive and comes with its own pressure relief system. It provides greater support the heavier the pressure you put on it. This means that your partner can toss and turn all night long and you won’t feel it. It also means that you are less likely to toss and turn in the first place, since it gives such great cushioning.
As a final nod towards motion reduction, this is a medium-soft mattress which will always have that little bit more motion reduction than a firmer mattress. There is not a lot of bounce in the Ocean Mist, but we don’t think that it is necessarily a bad thing.
As we mentioned above, we expected that the edge support on the Ocean Mist mattress was likely to be poor. This is because it is a full memory foam mattress, and since memory foam contours to the shape of your body; you may find that it does this when you sit on the edge. However, when it came to the Ocean Mist mattress, we found that there were different features built in to the bedding that allows for better edge support than your traditional full foam mattress would.
The makers at Plush Beds have included a high density core layer that gives added support by using higher density foam. This is the third layer of the bed; so really, you don’t sink any lower than the first few inches down. Secondly, the sturdy orthopedic foam that they use in the base layer is supportive enough to keep you firmly in place. When you invest in the Ocean Mist mattress you can be safe in the knowledge that you won’t slip off.
The second layer of this mattress actually contains a 3 inch layer of what Plush Beds call their ‘Cool Bliss GEL 4.0lb Memory Foam’. This product is their own patented invention and is said to soak up and spread out any body heat that you might give off through the night. It is highly breathable too, a factor added to by the loose fit of that luxurious cover layer.
As well as being a great temperature regulation tool, this gel is built to withstand high pressures, indicative of a mattress whose bottom won’t sag out over time. Since this is a Plush Beds mattress, the Ocean Mist also comes with no chemical additives and is fully hypoallergenic. So that comfort layer is very comforting indeed!
