Ghostbed is one of the most well-known bedding manufacturers on the marker. So, when they decided to unveil their new creation, Flex mattress, we were curious to try it out. It turned out to be a hybrid of the best of two worlds. It’s a classic updated with new technological advances that will provide that feeling of a classic innerspring mattress without sacrificing the comfort which the advance of memory foams has brought to the marker.
Ghostbed Flex is a high end seven-layered 13-inch mattress that aims to provide you with a night of perfect sleep. As usual, Ghostbed Mattress is produced in the United States and provides the materials of the highest quality available. You will still get a relaxing feeling, which those familiar with memory foams are well aware of, but due to individually wrapped coils, you will also be provided with adequate cooling to go with it. This combination is the selling point of Ghostbed Flex Mattress.
Ghostbed Flex is designed with comfort as a priority. Not only will the mattress adapt to your form, mimicking the sleeping patterns of your body, but it will also provide excellent cooling. But that’s not the only benefit that comes with the new mattress. The support coils, which are individually wrapped will ensure that motion transfer will not be an issue and the edge support is taken care of by Spirited Edge technology, which is trademarked by the manufacturer.

The website itself is filled with all types of information that will be useful for both first-time buyers, as well as people who want to take good care of their mattress. Compared to other websites of similar nature, the amount of information is really astounding. But that’s what you get from a company that has been selling the product for 18 years. The FAQ section only is so exhaustive that by itself it can compete with whole websites dedicated to the singular product.

Delivery and Set up
Since all of Ghostbed mattresses are fully made in unites states they provide a fast shipping and delivery service. The mattress will ship within 24 hours after the order is made. You may receive a mattress as soon as two days. Usually, it takes 2 to 5 business days. The delivery will be done by FedEx. And since the product is made in the U.S.A you won’t have to pay for it. Same goes for return policies. No fees paid here either. So far, so good!
Since Ghostbed mattresses are made in the U.S.A. the product will not travel half over the world to get on your doorstep. That’s a great benefit for everyone concerned with a carbon footprint.
The mattress will be transported to your place in a medium-sized box. As usual with this product, it will be vacuum compressed and rolled up. This makes it extremely easy not only for transportation purposes but also to get it into the room, where you are planning to use that. Do not unpack it before you do so. You will still manage to move it, but it will be much more of a hustle. Once you put it on the bed, you can cut the plastic and allow the mattress to inflate into full size. You can use it for sleeping from day one. However, you should be aware that it may take several days for mattress to reach its full size. From the information we gathered from the website, it seems that in extremely cold temperatures it might take as long as five days to fully enjoy the benefits of Ghostbed Flex mattress.
Fast and free delivery makes up for several days mattress might need too fully expand. Plus, you can start using it from day one. We rate this category 10 out of 10.
Comfort and Feel
Now let’s get into arguably the most important part of the review. How the Ghostbed Flex Mattress does actually feels to sleep on and what level on comfort does it provide. From my personal experience, this is one of the comfiest matrasses I ever had a pleasure of sleeping on. I might be subjective, but I’ve always preferred mattresses with traditional innerspring. For someone used to full on foam matrasses, they will certainly feel on firmer side. However, I would rate it on above-average firmness. They feel much more natural to sleep on than simple foam mattress. You certainly don’t get the feeling that you are sinking into it. That feeling actually turns me and many people off. That’s probably one of the main reasons why innerspring matrasses still dominate the marker. However, there is a layer of gel memory foam present. Which performs its duties admirably. You get the best from two worlds. It’s firm enough to not provide the sinking feeling, but it does have that layer of gel foam, which will ensure that you feel comfortable in every position you are going to be sleeping. The innerspring also ensure that the mattress is perfect for all weight categories.
First to layers of the mattress consist of cooling layers: cooling cover and cooling fibre. In combination with the next two layers of Gel memory foam, it provides an excellent level of comfort. You will be sure that it won’t get how enough for you to start sweating. The memory foam, along with dissipating heat will ensure that any extra pressure on your body will be relieved. This is especially important if you have injured any of your body parts. The fifth layer of Ghost Flex Soft Transition foam is also made with pressure relief in mind. This is followed by Individually Wrapped and reinforced support coils, this is the reason I really enjoyed this mattress. The innerspring mechanism offers the level of support and stability that is never matched by purely foam mattresses. The last layer of the mattress is High-density support foam, which in combination with support coils provide unmatched stability. All these layers form a 13 inch thick mattress that is perfect for a restful night.
Ghostbed Flex mattress rates highly on motion reduction. As far as we could gather this was provided by two factors. Two layers of gel memory foam were one of those reasons. Usually, full foam mattresses are without competition in this category. However since Ghostbed Flex is the combination of traditional and new, it managed to hold on itself here. Two levels of memory gel in combination with individually wrapped coils provide an admirable quality of motion reduction.
There is one more element that puts this mattress into a new level of comfort. Full memory foam mattresses come with a sinkage. This is not something that everyone enjoys. Ghostbed Flex, however, provides motion reduction, while having an excellent level of support and stability.
Edge Support
Edge support is something Ghostbed Flex excels in. There are two reasons for it. First of all, it is an innerspring mattress, which unlike full foam mattresses provide a high quality of support and do not suffer from sinkage. Even this fact on its own would have granted Ghostbed Flex a favourable rating. However, there is more. These mattresses come with Spirited Edge a patented technology of Ghostbed. What it does is provides an additional two rows of specifically reinforced coils around the edge of the mattress. This eliminates the possibility of falling off from it while sitting on the edge.

All materials used in making Flex mattress are certified by CertiPUR-US. They are eco-friendly, none of them causes ozone depletion and no heavy metals are present in the mattress. The mattress is 13 inches thick and has seven layers. It is build to last and provide comfort. First, you have a cooling cover, which helps to keep your bed cool and fresh throughout the night. It is followed by cooling fibre, which serves the same function. Coming after it is two layers of memory foams, which will keep you comfy and remove any excess of heat generated by your body. This is followed by Soft transition foam, which contours your body and provides comfort in any sleeping position. An innerspring mattress is what comes next and what makes Ghostbed Flex stand out. Individually wrapped and reinforced support coils are a godsend for anyone looking for a comfortable sleep. High-density support foam lies underneath this mechanism and provides additional support.
Ghostbed Flex Foundation
The GhostBed is one of the few brands that offers a shippable wood foundation. Additionally, it is a heavy duty wood foundation that is heavier than the wood foundations we typically have at our stores, although we offer steel as well this foundation is worth adding to your order strictly for the conveinence if you need a foundation as well. Assembly looks daunting initially, however it went pretty quickly. About 25-30 minutes. I would strongly recommend having a drill, it will take much longer with a screwdriver. The quality of the foundation is nice. The cover slips over much like a fitted sheet and with a snug fit it looks nice.

Ghostbed Flex is 13-inch thick mattress which is composed of 7 different, well thought out layers. The temperature is well regulated due to several factors. The first two layers of the mattress are specifically made with cooling in mind. Cooling cover and 1-inch cooling fibre ensure a constant airflow to the mattress. Next two layers are both composed of gel memory foam. Their primary function is to transfer and dissipate the heat generated by your body. With these four layers, you are sure to get sufficient airflow to prevent any discomfort during sleep. You will not wake up sweaty and sticky. An experience that will adversely affect the beginning of your day. Instead, your bed will be almost as fresh and the night before.
Different people have different experiences with airflow and cooling. People with heavier weight often experience this issue more profoundly. However, with Ghostbed Flex you are guaranteed a fresh feeling in the morning. The air flow is strong enough to accommodate a person of any weight and provide a terrific sleeping experience.
For its ability to regulate temperature by providing constant airflow Ghostbed Flex receives 10 out of 10.
Off Gassing
Off-gassing can be an annoying issue, especially if your house is not ventilated properly. Usually, matrasses do not come with any specific smell, unless you choose to buy scented one specifically. The smell can originate from storage, where the mattress has been lying for some time. Or even during the transportation period, especially if it had a long way to go to reach its destination. However, since the Ghostbed mattresses are produced and stored in the U.S.A there is a lower chance, that the mattress will have a foul smell originating from storage. Ours certainly did not. Obviously, it will smell of something, like any new product you buy. But it certainly will not be of any chemicals. The fresh smell it usually something people enjoy and it will disseminate in a couple of days, or even a couple of hours if you ventilate the room properly.
We had absolutely no issue with Off-gassing with Ghostbed Flex Mattress and would rate it 10 out of 10.

Ghostbed flex offers 101-night sleep trial. 100 days is an industry standard. Extra one days seems more like a gimmick or a pun than anything Else. However they do come with a Warranty that stands out on current market. Instead of standard 10 years warranty offered by most mattress manufacturers, you get more than twice of that. 25 years is a solid offer. And even though there are mattresses that offer even longer warranties, this is nothing to frown upon.
