Main things to consider when buying a space heater
Are Space Heaters Safe?
Space heaters are designed to be safe, but that safety is dependent on people using them in a safe way, as they’re intended to be used. Problems occur when people do not use them safely, or when they’ve purchased a heater that hasn’t been verified by a product safety organization.
Be sure to read the safety instructions and warnings.
Should you leave space heaters on overnight?
Generally, you should not leave them on all night. There is a risk of something catching fire while you sleep. Many of the new heaters have timers and controls in place that should shut them down if they are overheating but it still is not recommended to leave them on all night.
Should you leave a space heater unattended?
No, even with the safety features many heaters have it is not recommended to leave them unattended for long periods of time. The worst could happen!
Can Space Heaters Save Money on Your Electric Bill?
It really depends. If you are trying to use many of them in many rooms it will be best to just turn your heat up. If you have unusually cool rooms and just want more heat to be more comfortable than yes they can safe you money. Ultimately it depends on your situation.
