The Buffy Breeze Comforter Review

The Buffy Breeze Comforter Review

The Buffy Breeze Comforter promises unlimited comfort from the snug interior of a eucalyptus infused, temperature regulated den. Reviewers seem to love it – but who puts their worst reviews on the front page? We wanted to take a more thorough, in-depth look at the Breeze Comforter to find out if it really is as good as it says it is.

Without further ado, let’s dive into the world of super plush comfort, and find out how the Breeze measures up.

Branding

Buffy claim to make the most comforting comforter on earth, for which most of their marketing seems to focus on the Eucalyptus weave of the fabric. They are comfortable and confident enough in their product that they offer a trial period, which is always a good sign. Their web page looks clean and sleek. It is very to-the-point and does have a link to reviews, which is something we like to see as it promotes brand transparency.

Buffy have gone with a hint of Eco-friendly in their product, making the duvet with natural wood pulps and boasting that it is fully biodegradable. We could not find information as to how long it takes to biodegrade – but we do know that this nod towards environmentally aware products earns them a lot of points with the younger market. In a few years’ time, we predict that Eco-friendly materials are going to be the standard.

Buffy seems to offer quality over value for money. This isn’t a bad thing when you are trying to sell a highly specialized product. Their target market will be those with enough spare cash to buy such luxuries, but also that are still young enough to appreciate the Eco-value of their product. All in all their branding is wholesome, good looking, and just about as comforting as their comforter.

Comfort and Feel

The Buffy Breeze Comforter (not to be confused with the Buffy Cloud Comforter) is made entirely from all-natural plant-based materials. This means that the carbon footprint for each one is kept to a minimum and also that it will naturally degrade over time. The reason we mention it here is because; when you think of a plant-based fiber the first thing that comes to mind is not comfort… and this is a product that will likely change your mind about this in future!

When you order this comforter it actually comes with a free eye mask that has lavender infused into it. The idea is that the two products together will give you a fantastic night’s sleep. We are here to tell you that you don’t need them both! The mask is wonderfully soothing, but you can literally feel the difference this comforter makes from the second that you latch it on to your duvet. The bed feels fresher, the air is easier to breath and your airways naturally open to the eucalyptus. The duvet itself is soft and plush, easily billowing out along with any duvet you attach it to.

Perhaps best of all is not the temperature regulation, nor the nod to Eco-friendly materials – or even the good sleep you will have with this comforter. The best thing about it is the effect that it has one your skin. With eucalyptus being renowned for helping soften skin, along with having anti-microbial properties to help you fight back against acne, this comforter isn’t just good for a deep sleep – it’s great for your skin, too!

Key Points to Consider Regarding Buffy Comforter:

Construction of the Comforter:

The Buffy comforter is an environmentally-friendly comforter that is made using 100% eucalyptus fabric and has a 300 thread count. It also has a filling of recycled plastic bottles which means its animal cruelty-free as well. The outer layer is made from Lyocell which is a natural fabric extracted from eucalyptus. The benefit of using eucalyptus fibers is that they are naturally anti-inflammatory, soft and soothing and also resist mildew, mold and dust mites.

Furthermore, the fabric of its shell and the fill leverages 37.5 technology that has active particles designed to keep your body from getting too hot or cold by regulating temperature. Lastly, it has sewn-through triangles that hold some part of the fill while the remaining is held loosely throughout the comforter to evenly distribute the fill.

Feel of the Comforter:

You can really feel the eucalyptus in the shell if you lay under the comforter and its benefits is that it feels very soft and even softer than many microfiber and cotton comforter shells. Also, eucalyptus is known for its anti-inflammatory properties which means it may also help in keeping your skin smooth.

Furthermore, the comfort is an excellent temperature regulator because as mentioned above, it uses 37.5 particles that can cool you down when you feel hot making the comforter very cool to touch and comfortable to the skin.

Loft of the Comforter:

The Buffy comforter is advertised as a very fluffy comforter, but it might not be as thick as it is advertised. When you open it, shake it out and place it on your bed, you may find it a little thinner than what you may see on their website.

However, that doesn’t mean that it is not fluffy at all. The comforter features the fill of recycled plastic bottles that is enough to keep it raised and soft. Furthermore, the comforter offers great warmth even though it is quite thin.

Overall, the comforter might be perfect for people who do not prefer very fluffy comforters and would like to go with the thinner ones.

Warmth and Breathability of the Comforter:

Buffy is surprisingly warm for a thinner comforter which means it will keep you very insulated on a cold night and you might not need another layer to cover yourself.

However, some people, especially the warm sleepers, may find it a little hot during the summers as this comforter’s focus is more towards keeping you hot during winters.

But all in all, if you are not a very warm sleeper, you might find the Buffy comforter very soft and highly breathable providing you with a comfortable night’s sleep.

Pros & Cons of Buffy:

You will like the Buffy Breeze Comforter if you:

  • Are a hot sleeper by nature. This is temperature regulated to help match your body heat and provide night-long soothing.
  • Are a side, back or stomach sleeper you can benefit from the use of this comforter.
  • If you have the perfect mattress already (if not, then see our reviews!) and you would like something to add to your sleeping schedule.
  • Are worried about the environmental impact of the mattress and bedding industry then the Buffy Breeze is the perfect answer – and Buffy is the perfect brand for you.
  • If you really want that lavender infused eye mask…

You might not like the Buffy Breeze Comforter if you:

  • Tend to sleep cold. You may wish to add a second duvet or a thicker tog instead. The temperature regulation on this comforter is just a little too good and you may be cold.
  • Would rather trust more traditional materials to provide your comfort. Much like memory foam, however, if you try it you may find you like it.
  • Do not like the smell of eucalyptus. If you do not like the smell of lavender, you can always ask them to keep back the mask.

Other Considerations Regarding Buffy Comforter:

How to Take Care of the Buffy Comforter?

One of the most important things to consider when getting any type of bedding is how it should be cleaned because ultimately, you can only enjoy a restful night’s sleep if you are using neat and clean bedding. So with that said let’s look at a few things to consider to maintain and clean the Buffy comforter:

  • Though down comforters can be cleaned in the machine, you need to make sure to only wash the Buffy comforter in the industrial-size washer and dryer because small machines can damage it.
  • So if you cannot arrange the comforter to be cleaned in an industrial-size washer and dryer, then make sure to only dry clean it to keep it in top shape.
  • Furthermore, you can also put your Buffy comforter in a duvet cover so that way, you can just take out the cover and wash it, and dry clean the comforter itself and then put the cover back on. This will keep your comforter super clean.

So these are a few recommended things to keep in mind if you want to make sure that you enjoy a neat and clean comforter on you.

There are a few other things to take into consideration before you buy. The Buffy breeze comforter costs between $180 and $250. This is a great value purchase for those that sleep hot. Although it advises not to wash at home, you can do this on a low heat and with little soap. We would always suggest that you follow the manufacturers instructions and expect to dry clean this product every few weeks if you do commit to buy.

Is it Hot or Cold?

This is a temperature regulated design, which means that the comforter will help to imitate the heat from your body and perhaps provide cooling where you need it. It has been specifically designed to stop you from overheating and works so much better than sticking your foot out the end of the duvet that you really need to try it to believe it. If you tend to sleep cold then we would advise you to avoid this particular comforter because it does score very highly in this category.

When you add the eucalyptus scent into the mix, this comforter provides you with a literal breath of fresh air. It is highly breathable, and you can actually feel the air pass through it as you put it onto your bed. It’s got a nice waved quilt pattern on it and that pattern will also help to put a little air flow between you and your skin. All in all it is warm and cozy without allowing you to overheat. That’s a difficult balance to get right in the mattress industry!

We gave the Buffy Breeze Comforter a 10 out of 10 for temperature. If you sleep hot and already have a cooling mattress then this might be the final touch you need to make the perfect night’s sleep complete.

Materials

The whole of the Buffy Breeze Comforter has been made from a naturally sourced product. This material is known as Lyocell and is actually made from the slow dissolution of wood pulp from eucalyptus trees. Of course, since Buffy are all about the Eco conscious way of life; these plant based materials are fully sustainably sourced. Not only that, but they will biodegrade if you put them in a specialist facility.

Eucalyptus is an interesting choice because it is naturally soothing. It is known to have anti-inflammatory properties making it great for acne. It is also naturally anti-microbial, meaning that it is resistant to building up unhealthy levels of bacteria. When you put eucalyptus into bedding it will always lead to a clean, fresh feeling, even if the sheets aren’t the cleanest or the freshest!

What we don’t like about the materials used is that Buffy recommend the product is dry-clean only. While most of us have duvets that are also dry-clean only this isn’t a problem really. To those of us who specifically bought duvets that could be machine washed to save ourselves some money, this is a different story.

Although the manufacturers instructions are to dry clean only, we have heard tell that you can wash this comforter as long as you do so on a low heat setting with minimal soap. Try it at your own risk and do not admit that you read it here…

Construction wise we do love the quilting as it adds to air flow and helps that all-important temperature regulation. We also love the feel of the fabric and can hardly believe that it is made from wood pulp. It has also been designed so that you can loop it onto your regular duvet, or put it in a duvet cover of its own. Depending on the weather, you may wish to try both!

Who Should Buy The Buffy?

Buffy Comforter is For You If:

  • You prefer to use environmentally-friendly bedding as the cover of the comforter is made from 100% eucalyptus plant and contains the fill made of recycled plastic bottles.
  • You have allergies because the Buffy comforter contains natural, hypoallergenic material. So if you have problems like a runny nose or watery eyes, you can use Buffy comforter.
  • You are looking for a comforter that you can comfortably use in the fall or winter seasons because Buffy comforter provides excellent warmth that is enough to keep you cool all night long. And the best part is that you don’t have to use any extra covers.

Buffy Comforter Might Not be for You If:

  • You prefer to sleep under a loftier comforter that can provide you with a feeling of sleeping under a cloud because the Buffy comforter, though contains good amount of filling, is thinner than most of the down alternative comforters.
  • You sleep warm because this comforter is focused more on keeping you warm during the winters. Although the Buffy comforter features 37.5 technology that regulates the temperature, some people who tend to overheat at night might not find it cool enough in summers.

What are the customers saying?

Customers seem to love the Buffy Breeze Comforter, especially those that are hot sleepers.

KF started their review by announcing they would be keeping it, then went on to say:

“I have had my new Breeze for about a week, and I will absolutely be keeping it. I am impressed with the quality of the materials and the workmanship. It is a very attractive comforter, though I am using mine inside a duvet cover so I rarely get to appreciate that aspect of it. It does exactly what I hoped: provides the cozy, snugly weightiness of a comforter without being hot at all. My sleeping partner and I have both been satisfied with it, despite being different “temperature” sleepers. Also, it is a great size. The full/queen is plenty large enough to hang over the edges nicely of a standard queen-sized mattress. I am tempted to look into getting a Cloud next.”

And Jennifer S. added that it exceeded all of their expectations, saying:

“This comforter impressed with my husband and I. It is definitely cooling, and at the same time I don’t get to cold. It keeps you at a perfect body temperature to induce sleep. My husband and I are both getting a better night sleep!”

While Marquisia C. said that the comforter was amazingly great:

“The comforter is really lightweight, smooth, and soft. It keeps me cool and my husband most times. He is just truly a hot natured person. But overall this way better than a regular blanket etc for keeping us cool in these hot Texas summers.”

Conclusion

  • Buffy - Overall
4.9

Overall Summary

I have angered Buffy a little taking too long to finish this review. The reason is becasue I ahve been using it. I need to film a video for it consodering I LOVE IT! The original is in my spare room and everyone also comments on how amazing it is. Buffy I’ll film soon! Great products.

Overall, we think this is a tremendous product that far outperformed what we thought it was capable of. For such a seemingly thin cover it has maximum impact under the sheets. It leaves you feeling cooler, with clearer skin and breathing easier. We wouldn’t be surprised if we heard reports that it had cured snoring while it was doing its other job of keeping you cool as you sleep.

We rated this product highly because there weren’t many areas where it can be faulted. It doesn’t have motion reduction technology and it doesn’t provide edge support… because it’s a comforter… but these are two areas we would normally assess when covering mattresses in our reviews. Perhaps the lack of these two categories is pushing the score up? We don’t think so. We just think it’s pretty great.

We recommend using this product if you sleep hot, if you have the extra cash and if you are in need of sleeping solutions with a difference. It scored so highly across the board that it earned a straight 10 out of 10 for overall value and recommendation. If you sleep hot there’s no need to suffer. Invest in a Buffy Breeze Comforter and you might never sweat in your sleep again.
